Project Manager - The Woodlands

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to lead commercial construction projects in the Houston market.

Details:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to lead commercial construction projects in the Houston market. This role will oversee ground-up commercial facility construction as well as interior and exterior renovation projects in industrial (oil & gas) environments. Projects typically range from $1 million to $10 million.

You will work in close coordination with the Project Superintendent to manage full project lifecycle delivery—ensuring safe, on-time, and on-budget execution of both new builds and renovation scopes—while building strong client relationships and mentoring project teams.

The position is based in the Houston metro area (The Woodlands headquarters) with travel to project sites as needed. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven construction leader ready to take ownership of impactful projects supporting the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in close coordination with the Project Superintendent to lead all aspects of assigned projects, including day-to-day on-site and office operations, subcontractor coordination, and joint oversight of foremen and field teams for both ground-up construction and interior/exterior renovation projects in active industrial settings.
  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using industry-standard tools; proactively manage milestones, critical path items, and timeline risks for new builds and renovation scopes in partnership with the Superintendent.
  • Enforce and champion safety protocols across all project phases; conduct regular site inspections alongside the Superintendent and ensure full compliance with OSHA, Martin ICS safety standards, and client-specific requirements in high-hazard industrial environments (especially during renovation work in live facilities).
  • Manage project budgets, cost reporting, change orders, and procurement; identify potential overruns early and implement corrective actions to protect profitability on both ground-up and renovation projects.
  • Oversee quality control, workmanship standards, and inspections in coordination with the Superintendent; resolve field and design issues while delivering projects that meet or exceed client expectations across new construction and renovation activities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and stakeholders; lead coordination meetings, process RFIs/submittals, and manage change management processes specific to ground-up builds and interior/exterior renovations.
  • Administer subcontracts, purchase orders, pay applications, and all project documentation (progress reports, as-builts, close-out packages) for both project types.
  • Mentor Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers while fostering a positive, high-performance team culture in partnership with the Superintendent.
  • Minimize operational disruptions on live industrial sites during renovation work and deliver exceptional client satisfaction.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • 5–8 years (Project Manager) or 8+ years (Senior Project Manager) of progressive experience leading commercial construction projects in a Project Manager or equivalent role (required).
  • Proven track record successfully delivering ground-up construction and/or interior/exterior renovation projects valued between $1M and $10M (strongly preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, budgeting, and best practices for both new builds and renovation work in commercial and industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage full project P&L, client relationships, and multi-disciplinary teams while effectively collaborating with field leadership (Superintendents).
  • Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, e-Builder or similar) and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain immediately) and any additional safety credentials a plus.

Note: Prior industrial (oil & gas, energy, refining) experience is not strictly required—strong candidates from commercial, institutional, or heavy civil backgrounds are encouraged to apply if they meet the core PM experience and project scale requirements.

Safety Compliance Expectations:

  • Full adherence to OSHA regulations and standards.
  • Strict compliance with Martin ICS comprehensive safety program (“Safety First, Excellence Always”), including training, audits, advanced safety technologies, and proactive risk mitigation.
  • Integration with client-specific safety requirements, job hazard analysis, permitting, and emergency protocols in active industrial/oil & gas environments (particularly during renovation work in operational facilities).
  • Ability to work in outdoor/field conditions on active industrial sites.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience and title level (Project Manager or Senior Project Manager) — please inquire for range details.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plan options with company match, paid time off, and more.
