Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Project Superintendent to lead on-site operations for ground-up commercial facility construction projects in industrial (oil & gas) environments.

We are seeking an experienced Project Superintendent to lead on-site operations for ground-up commercial facility construction projects in industrial (oil & gas) environments. This role is based in the Houston metro area (including The Woodlands and surrounding regions), with some travel required to project sites.

 

You will oversee projects ranging from $1 million to $10 million, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead daily on-site operations, coordinating and supervising subcontractors, crews, foremen, and field personnel to execute ground-up and renovation construction of commercial/industrial facilities.
• Work with PM team to manage detailed project schedules, ensuring milestones are met and adjusting plans as needed to maintain timelines.
• Enforce strict safety protocols, conduct regular site inspections, maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, client-specific safety requirements, and industry standards in high-hazard industrial settings.
• Manage resource allocation, including labor, equipment, materials, and tools; coordinate deliveries with vendors and suppliers to avoid delays.
• Monitor project progress, quality control, and workmanship; perform regular inspections and resolve issues to deliver projects that meet or exceed client expectations.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, clients, and stakeholders to review plans, address changes, and resolve field issues.
• Work closely with the Project Management (PM) team to track and monitor project spending; help ensure field activities and resource use remain within the established project budget; identify potential cost overruns early and implement field-level corrective actions in coordination with the PM team.
• Conduct daily/weekly meetings with teams, document progress, and maintain accurate records, reports, and as-built documentation.
• Foster a positive, productive site culture while minimizing disruptions in operational industrial environments.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience as a Project Superintendent running ground-up and renovation construction projects valued between $1M and $10M (required; superintendent experience is mandatory—no equivalent roles accepted).
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, safety regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to manage diverse teams and subcontractors effectively.
• Proficiency with construction management software/tools (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office suite.
• Valid driver’s license.
• OSHA 30-hour certification (or willingness to obtain); additional safety certifications a plus.

Safety Compliance Expectations:

• Full adherence to OSHA regulations and standards.
• Compliance with Martin ICS comprehensive safety program, which includes rigorous training, regular audits, advanced safety technologies, and a proactive approach to risk identification, assessment, and mitigation (safety is a core value at Martin ICS—”Safety First, Excellence Always”).
• Strict adherence to client-specific safety requirements, including integration with client operations, job hazard analysis, permitting, emergency response protocols, and any additional site-specific rules in active industrial/oil & gas environments.
• Ability to work in outdoor/field conditions, including industrial sites with potential hazards.
• Note: Prior experience specifically in industrial (oil & gas, energy, refining) construction is not required; candidates from commercial, institutional, or other ground-up construction sectors are encouraged to apply if they meet the superintendent and project size requirements.
• Must be able to pass background checks and drug and alcohol screening.

• Location: Houston Metro Area (The Woodlands base with site travel, primarily in the South Houston area)
• Job Type: Full-time
• Schedule: Monday–Friday (with occasional overtime/weekends as project needs dictate)
• Experience Level: Mid-Senior (7+ years as Project Superintendent required)
